KITZMILLER — Joseph R. Barnhouse Sr., 95, of Kitzmiller, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Peace Healthcare at Dennett Road Manor in Oakland.
Born Dec. 29, 1927, in Vindex, he was the son of the late Roy Gibson and Eleanor Rachael Paugh Barnhouse.
He was the loving husband of the late Gloria Victoria Barnhouse, who predeceased him in 2022.
Surviving are his children, Joseph Barnhouse Jr. and wife Shirley of Aliquippa, Pa., Debrah Barnhouse of Kitzmiller, Tammy Welch and husband Roger of Kitzmiller, John Barnhouse and wife Patty of Kitzmiller, Tim Barnhouse and wife Karen of Kitzmiller, Paul Barnhouse of Kitzmiller and Amy DeMucci and husband Joe of Oakland; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sister, Jean Marcuson of Baltimore.
Joseph was a WWII veteran of the United States Army, where he served in Germany. He graduated from Kitzmiller High School, class of 1946. He worked at J & L Steel Mill in Aliquippa.
Joseph was a Protestant who loved his Lord.
A visitation for Joseph will be held on Friday, May 19, from 6-8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Chapel, 910 State Street, Kitzmiller.
His funeral service will be Saturday, May 20, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Swanton.
