RIPLEY, W.Va. (WV News) — Movin’ in May is winding down. But not before a final celebration takes place on the courthouse lawn. And that celebration will include fun and activities that are the perfect cap to this ‘get out and move’ campaign.
On Thursday, May 25, Maka Mia Movin’ in May Finale will kick off with the regularly scheduled yoga classes.
Keith King, the chief organizer of the Movin’ program, said this will also be a time to add a couple of the more popular activities.
“We’re going to include our kickboxing Zumba and cardio workout,” he said. “And we may also have line dancing and Pilates. All of it will begin at 6:30 p.m.”
But what’s a celebration without food, music and a little shimmy?
At 7:30 p.m., Jewels Whitley’s Shimmy Mob will dance in front of the gazebo and DJ Sean Grandon from WCEF will provide music from 7:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Pizza and salad will be provided by Maka Mia Pizza.
“And of course, we’ll have a dessert,” King said.
It is estimated that well over 900 people took part in the many activities offered throughout May in both Ripley and Ravenswood.
“We kept our established activities from first Movin’,” King said. “But we added several new opportunities this year too. Young children also had fun with Cheryl Miller and Jessica Isner at Cedar Lakes.”
Some prizes will be awarded and the evening will end as everyone joins in with “Country Roads.”
