CHARLESTON, W. Va. (WV News) – Ravenswood was represented well at the State Meet in Charleston Friday and Saturday.
The 108th edition of the State Meet had the Devils scoring 11 points in Class A boys while the Devilettes registered two.
The boys team placed 18th overall as a team. They were one of 28 teams in the mammoth field to come away with point production.
Wyatt Milhoan wrapped up a fine junior season by having a hand in all 11 of the points put on the board by the red and black.
Individually, Milhoan was fifth in the 200 meters.
He turned in a time of 23.47 on Saturday in the championship finals.
During Friday’s qualifying, Milhoan had the seventh-best time of 23.49 to gain entry into the field of eight the next day.
In the 100 meters Saturday, Milhoan was sixth with a time of 11.47.
During Friday’s qualifying, he also turned in a time of 11.47, which was sixth-best overall.
Ravenswood added a fifth-place finish in the meet’s final event – the 4x400 meter relay — on Saturday.
The Devils turned in a time of 3:39.98.
The foursome consisted of senior Brandon Haynes, sophomore Thomas Nickerson, senior Logan Moore and Milhoan.
Buffalo, from Ravenswood’s Region IV, won the Class A team title for the first-time ever with 109 points. Wheeling Central was second with 84 points.
-In the girls competition, Lauren Raynes, a junior, scored in the 300 meter hurdles.
The talented Raynes turned in time of 51.35 during Saturday morning’s race which was good for seventh overall.
By scoring, she gains great momentum for her upcoming senior campaign.
Ravenswood was one of 30-plus teams to score in Class A girls.
Williamstown was the team winner in Class A with 173.5 points. Doddridge County had 120.5 to place second.
