Sharon Sue Carney, 78, of Kenna, WV, passed away on May 12, 2023 at the Mountain View Care Center in Ripley. Born on April 8, 1945 in Charleston, she was the daughter of the late Maynard Edward and Ada Blanche Harrison Carney.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Ann Carney and Phyllis Koontz; brothers-in-law, Jerry Beane and O.J. Koontz, and her niece, Angela Sue Koontz.
Sharon graduated from Ripley High School in 1964. She was the standby babysitter and cook, and always had a hot meal ready for her family.
She is survived by her siblings, Joan Beane of Kenna and Dale (Jane) Carney of Kenna; nephews, Jon (Rita) Beane, Greg (Paula) Koontz and Travis Koontz, and several great-nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain View Care Center in Ripley for their love and care of Sharon for the past 3 years.
Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home in Sissonville, with Pastor Al Mendez, officiating. Burial followed at the Carney Family Cemetery in Kenna, WV.
