KEYSER, W.Va. (WV News) – Barbara Jean Smith, 87, of Keyser, died on Friday, May 19, 2023 at UPMC Western Maryland in Cumberland.
Born on April 20, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Bernadette (Adams) Vogtman. She is also preceded in death by her beloved aunt, Phyllis Adams; and grandson, Alexander “Alex” William Corrie.
She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are her two daughters, Sharon Schade and husband Gary of Cumberland, Maryland, and Charmaine Corrie and husband William “Bill” of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; and her son, Craig Smith and wife Timbery of Baltimore, Maryland; her grandchildren, Michael Thompson and wife Nikki of Cumberland, Lindsey Bramlett and husband Shawn of Sellersburg, Indiana, and Jocely Smith of Baltimore; her four great-grandchildren, Oliva and Scarlett Thompson, Bear and Colton Bramlett and Benson Corrie; and her sister, Donna Cave of Bel Air, Maryland. She is also survived by her two nieces, Rhonda Rutt and her children Morgan and Zane, and Carla Barker and husband Steve and their children, Samantha and Garrett, all of Bel Air.

In respecting Barbara’s wishes, her body will be cremated and there will be no viewing.
A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Barbara’s home at 1465 Ludwick St. Keyser, from 2-6:30 p.m.
A private inurnment will be held in the German Lutheran Cemetery in Frostburg, Maryland, where she will be rejoined with her parents.
