RAVENSWOOD, W. Va. (WV News) – All the hard work dating back to the cold practices in March will come to an end this weekend for Ravenswood’s two track and field programs.
Both the Red Devil boys and Devilette girls will be well-represented at the West Virginia High School State Track and Field Meet in Charleston. The competition started this afternoon at 2 p.m. inside the complex of Laidley Field at University of Charleston Stadium.
Wyatt Milhoan will be involved in three individual running events for the Red Devils. Milhoan will compete in the 100 meters, in which he has the eighth-best qualifying time from last week’s regional at 11.55. The talented junior will also run in the 200 and 400 meters. His qualifying times in those two events were 23.54 and 54.41, respectively.
Trials for the 100 meters will be at 4:25 p.m. Friday with the chance (top eight) to compete on Saturday.
The trials in the 200 meters will be at 6:35 p.m. Friday evening.
The 400 meter finals are Saturday morning at 10:15.
Logan Moore will run in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles this weekend. His qualifying times were 18.14 and 45.91, respectively, at last week’s Region IV Meet in Charleston. Trials for the 110 hurdles will be Friday at 3:50 p.m. The 300 finals are Saturday at 11:50 a.m.
Ethan Fry qualified in the long jump with a mark of 18-10. He will compete Saturday at 9 a.m.
Zane Bailis will be a part of the shot put field in Class A after throwing 41-11 last week. He will be competing at 4 p.m. today.
Haynes, Fry, Michael Phelps and Michael Dauch will make up the 4x100 meter relay team. Last week they turned in a time of 48.46. The 4x1 will be Saturday afternoon at 3:10 p.m.
Andrew Cogar, Moore, Dauch and Phelps will run in the 4x2 event after qualifying with a time of 1:50.95. The start time will be 2:10 p.m.
Brandon Haynes, Moore, Thomas Nickerson and Milhoan qualified in the 4x400 with a time of 3:41.78, which is sixth-best going into the weekend. The 4x4 is the last competition of the State Meet. Class A boys will go at 4:46 p.m.
The 4x800 unit of Henry Ramierez, Cameron Maurer, Davy Ramsey and Nickerson will get the running portion of the State Meet in Class A boys 2:45 p.m. They turned in a qualifying time last week of 11:04.
Lauren Raynes will be a part of four different events this weekend for the Devilettes.
Raynes’ time of 51.42 is eighth-best in the 300 hurdles. She will run in that event Saturday at 11:35 a.m.
She also qualified in the 100 hurdles and 400 meters. Her qualifying times were 19.10 and 1:07.90, respectively. She will run in the trials Friday evening at 3:30 p.m. The 400 final is Saturday at 10 a.m.
Raynes will be a part of the 4x200 relay team, which qualified with a time of 2:03.05. She will be joined by Carlee Forte, Haley Allinder and Avery Cole. They will run in the finals at 1:40 p.m.
Kadi Price will run in the open 400 meters with Raynes. Her regional time was 1:10.26.
Kenzi Nesselroad will compete Friday evening in the 3200 meters. Nesselroad’s regional time was 15:34.41. The girls Class A 3200 begins at 6:55 p.m.
The 4x100 relay, which qualified with a time of 59.26, will consist of Forte, Allinder, Miranda Barker and Cole. They will run at 2:55 p.m.
The 4x800 unit of Barker, Riley Curfman, Nesselroad and Price qualified with a time of 12:44.90. The foursome will be on the track to begin the State Meet at 2 p.m.
