CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — Substantial completion of the Harrison County General Services Building could be determined by Harrison County Commissioners at this Wednesday's regular meeting.Â
"It will be a big relief," Commission President Susan Thomas said, "for a lot of people I think."
The contract with Silling Associates in Charleston and Rycon Construction in Pittsburgh was dated Sept. 29, 2020. Documents suggest Glenn Savage, Silling Associates construction administrator, recommended the certificate be issued May 1 and a Rycon Construction official signed off last week.Â
According to Thomas, County Administrator Laura Pysz has interviewed moving companies for the respective offices to relocate, and more are slated to bid, but that no final timetable has been issued.Â
"There will be a lot of packing to do," Thomas said.Â
Commissioners will also consider selling the previous Public Safety building, located at 420 Buckhannon Pike in Nutter Fort, as well as a parcel of land formally known as the Farms at Maple Lake LLC.
Thomas said both items are only "initial discussions."
The Public Safety building is currently the county garage, Thomas said, after law enforcement and 9-1-1 officials relocated to new buildings in Clarksburg and Bridgeport, respectively.Â
Last week, Harrison County Development Authority members voted to contract Kaufman Realty & Auctions to sell county-owned property near North Central West Virginia Airport.
A trio of 911 dispatchers are slated to receive pay increases after completing their training. Pay raises for election workers will also be considered.
There will also be a public hearing and second reading of the proposed Barking Dog Ordinance.
Under the proposed ordinance, the Harrison County Magistrate may order the owner or custodian to abate the public nuisance or pay subsequent fines. A third or subsequent violation of this ordinance within any six-month period could subject the owner or custodian of any dog to a fine of not less than $200 nor more than $500.
The Harrison County Courthouse will be opened with limited seating, but interested residents can comment, join and listen via Zoom Conference Call. Residents can join at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/7628160712 or by dialing 1-646-568-7788 Meeting ID: 762 816 0712 with passcode 270967
Wednesday's meeting is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
