For decades, Bridgeport-based Beacon Wealth Management has put a personal touch on its strategies for each client, putting together a holistic plan that suits every individual’s needs.
Beacon Wealth Management owner John Halterman said that Beacon Wealth Management specializes in serving clients between the ages of 55 and 85, focusing on five key areas of retirement strategy for its clients: organizing and simplifying clients’ financial affairs, growing and protecting retirement assets, tax reduction strategies, family income protection in the event of unplanned health matters and optimizing family legacy and inheritance.
“We believe that in the second half of a person’s life, they face much more financial concerns and issues than they do in the accumulation phase,” Halterman said. “Our clients have their whole entire life savings and are asking ‘How do I use that as an income asset?’”
Beacon Wealth Management offers a holistic retirement strategy for every single individual client. Rather than being self- or product-oriented, Halterman said that the firm is solution-driven and strategy-based, so that no matter what happens to a client, they feel confident that a plan is in place that will take care of the entire family.
“We look at everything from a fiduciary standpoint,” Halterman said. “It’s about providing solutions for the client’s need.”
Halterman said that the firm’s client engagement is second to none, noting that becoming a client of Beacon Wealth Management is only the beginning of communication with the individual.
Every month, the firm hosts an exclusive educational or lifestyles event for its clients. Recently, events have centered around gardening, CPR, Social Security and tax law changes.
He added that clients have a digital portal through which they can see all of their money in one place.
Halterman said that Beacon Wealth is able to help organize clients’ financial portfolios so that instead of getting multiple 401K, bank, brokerage accounts, annuities and life insurance statements, they can easily access the information in one easy-to-use portal.
"We put it all in one portal so that everybody knows exactly where they stand with all of their money, any time they want,” Halterman said.
The firm also frequently reaches out to its clients to see what’s going on in their lives, asking if there are any changes happening, specifically so Halterman and his specialists can get insight on the world around them.
“We operate as a team,” Halterman said. “instead of just having an advisor and an assistant, here, we have a team of eight to 10 of us who work together to serve the needs of our clients, and it’s all centered around solutions.”
