The Knights were featured in latest batch of the team and individual rankings on RunWV.com which were released earlier this week.
As a team, Preston moved up a spot in the Class AAA Girls Power Rankings at the No. 7 spot. The top 10 includes Morgantown at the top, followed by Jefferson, Huntington, Parkersburg, Hurricane, Woodrow Wilson, Preston, Spring Mills, Bridgeport and Cabell Midland.
Individual rankings go by the best mark achieved this season through meets held by April 15 and received by April 17. Members of the Preston girls’ squad are featured in six different events while the boys are represented in one event.
Davis holds the No. 1 ranking in the discus (122’ 03”) and the No. 8 spot in the shot put (32’ 09”). Ella White is No. 2 in the 400m dash with a mark of 58.55 and No. 4 in the 800m (2:22.07). Finally, the girls have two different relay teams in the rankings with the 4x400 group (4:18.05) ranked No. 4 and the 4x800 team (10:29.52) ranked No. 6.
On the boys’ side, Preston’s 4x800 relay team is ranked No. 8 in the state.
Preston will compete in the Harry Green Invitational hosted by Bridgeport High School at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
The Preston Knights’ softball team had a tough week as it hosted the North Marion Huskies on Monday and the University Hawks on Wednesday.
The Huskies powered their way to a 13-0 victory in five innings after outhitting Preston 15-1 and riding a nine-strikeout, shutout performance from Rayden Satterfield.
North Marion scored six in the second, six in the third and one in the fourth to close out the scoring.
Preston’s lone hit came from Dalaynie Myers.
On Wednesday, University powered past Preston, 22-0, and racked up 25 hits while doing so in the three-inning contest.
The Hawks logged 14 runs in the fourth before posting four runs in the second and third frames.
The Knights host the Southern Garrett Rams (Md.) at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
