FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WV News) — This weekend, the 43rd annual Three Rivers Festival will light up Palatine Park, promising three days of music, food and fun for all ages.
The festival will begin Thursday with the annual grand feature parade, while the festival officially opens at the same time. Then, throughout Friday and Saturday, the park will host a wide array of fun, free events for families to enjoy, according to Three Rivers Festival board member Jon Dodds.
“As usual, we have an amazing, fun-filled week of family-oriented activities,” Dodds said. “This event has become a tradition in the region, and we try to have a wide range of activities that will really appeal to as many people as possible. We have live music, karaoke, events for children, the carnival and food. Of course, we have the grand feature parade and one of the largest fireworks shows of the year.”
Dodds said the Three Rivers Festival board is full of volunteers who work tirelessly with countless others who are donating their time to make sure the festivities are a hit.
“We work all year round, hours and hours, to put this on for the community, and everyone works so hard to make this happen,” Dodds said.

“There are so many free activities,” Dodds said. “The carnival and the vendors are charged activities, but the whole weekend, we have free activities, and we encourage everyone to come out and attend. If you go through the schedule, there has got to be something there for everyone. Most importantly, based on the weather report, it looks like we’re going to have some amazing festival weather that’s going to pan out.”
